Chris Guillebeau talks about how he uses autoresponders to connect and build relationships with subscribers. He has some very great points on how the little things add up to build meaningful relationships. You can’t completely automate relationships, but using them will free up more time for you to do the in-person responses at key points in the relationship.
I love Chris’ answers. So many times I hear my clients complain about lack of time, and I’m guilty of it myself. But I think we are losing focus on why we are in business to begin with… the customers! What are we doing in the office all day long if we are not engaging our audience? How is that going to impact our bottom line now, or even years down the road? If you are in it for the long haul, you need to think both short and long term.
Imagine how long it takes to post a status on someone’s wall, comment, send a short email or send a card. It only takes a few minutes but the appreciation your customer feels is well worth the effort!
I’ve been putting in the effort to set up systems such as a greeting card service and AWeber so I can better communicate with my clients. I have so much to say and having an easy method to keep in touch will both help my stress level and allow me to express how much people mean to me!
